FAQs about moving home
How far in advance do I need to book my connection?
We recommend booking at least 3 business days before your move date. For urgent connections, call us — we’ll do our best to accommodate same-day or next-day requests where your distributor allows it.
Will I receive the government energy bill relief credit?
Eligible residential customers automatically receive the Federal Government’s Energy Bill Relief Fund credit on their CovaU account — no separate application needed. Amounts vary by state: up to $300 (QLD), $250 (VIC, NSW, SA). Eligibility conditions apply — see full terms below.
Can I keep my current CovaU plan at my new address?
In most cases, yes. If your new property is in a different distribution zone, we will offer you the closest equivalent plan available in that area.
What happens if no one is home on connection day?
If your property has a smart meter, connection happens remotely — no one needs to be home. For properties requiring a site visit, we will confirm a time window in advance with you.
I have solar panels — what do I need to do?
Let us know when setting up your move. We will arrange the transfer of your solar feed-in tariff to your new address. No extra charge applies.
How do I disconnect energy at my old address?
You can request a disconnection at your old address at the same time as setting up your new connection — one form, handled together.
Is CovaU available in my state?
CovaU currently services residential customers in VIC, NSW, QLD and SA. Enter your new address in the form above to check plan availability at your specific property.
